Shelley Russell is one of South Africa’s brightest hockey stars. She’s been a Springbok for nine years and has played over 230 caps for South Africa. Shelley has attended two Olympic Games and is hoping to add a third one to her list.

There is, however, more to Shelley than just hockey. She has a Sport Science degree from the University of Stellenbosch and, in her spare time, she is a bona fide celebrity-athlete-stalker. More about this peculiar past time in the excerpt below:

The South African Women’s Team recently beat the Ghanaian team to defend their title as African champions for the 6th time. Even though the Springboks are ranked 11th in the world and qualify to go to the 2016 Olympic Games, a lack of funding might hamper Shelley’s dream for a third appearance.

Due to nerves, Shelley doesn’t remember much about her debut match for the Springboks in 2006. Lucky for us, we won’t forget it as Russell’s debut number 10 top makes it to our #LoveChange Showcase.
