OSCAR CHALUPSKY

Oscar Chalupsky is a South African paddler and was South Africa’s team captain at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona where he competed in K-4 1000 m event, reaching the semi-finals. He is also a 12-time World Surfski Champion – his latest win (2012) coming at the age of 49, 29 years after his first win.

In 1979 he became the youngest ever South African to represent his country in life-saving and in his final year at year at school, 1980, he represented Natal at Craven Week Rugby, received South African colours for water polo and life-saving and became the first person ever to win both the junior and senior men’s Iron Man titles at the South African Surf Lifesaving Championships.

He co-founded Epic Kayaks with Greg Barton and was vice president until 2015 when he joined Nelo Kayaks as CEO of the Surfski division. He is currently based in Portugal and remains extremely active in the sport of surfski worldwide and is one of the sport’s most prominent athletes and advocates, attending events and hosting coaching clinics.

SOMIZI

Somizi Mhlongo is a multi-talented South African choreographer, actor, singer, radio personality, TV presenter/ personality and reality TV star. He started his acting career at a tender age of 13 appearing in the film called Scavengers in 1987. In 1992, he appeared in the musical and political film, Sarafina, which gained his prominence in the industry and South Africa as a whole. With his numerous appearances, Somizi has become one of the most notable and successful personalities in the South African entertainment industry.

After starring and taking part in the choreography of Sarafina, Somizi also appeared in several films including the drama film – Cry, the Beloved Country . He choreographed many prominent events including the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Miss South Africa, the Metro FM Music Awards and the South African Music Awards.

With numerous television appearances, Somizi has become one of the notable and successful personalities in the  South African industry. He has appeared in various television shows, including Idols South Africa, V Entertainment, and his reality show Living the Dream with Somizi.

EDUARD COETZEE

Dr Eduard Coetzee, now Sharks Rugby CEO was once a very good prop who played Super Rugby for the Sharks, for South Africa ‘A’ and spent eight years playing in France for Biarritz.

Eduard hailed as a champion for SA Rugby transformation, holds a Master’s degree in Inclusive Innovation from the University of Cape Town and a Phd focused in Inclusive Business Model Innovation from University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Eduard brokered the partnership between The Sharks and Roc Nation Sports International and signed on Springbok captain Siya Kolisi.

He has earned great respect as a leader and an astute businessman who brings a fresh and dynamic approach.
